Everything in one place to help you prepare to participate in Mississauga Potters’ Guild Sales.

Sales are open to ALL members of the Mississauga Potters’ Guild: General, Studio and RAM members in good standing.
Guidelines and recommendations to help you prepare:
Ceramic work of all kind can be sold at the sale – functional, sculptural, jewelry, decorations, planters, and outdoor garden items.
Creating an inventory throughout the year is the best way to prepare for the sale.
General show guidelines:
- Items should be stable and have smooth bottoms
- Items must be fit for purpose and not have unintentional chips, cracks, unsafe, sharp, brittle or fragile edges
- No kiln wash on any surfaces
- Glaze finish must not contain lead or lead frits
- All finishes to be used with food must be food safe
- No commercial bisque ware
- Hanging pieces must have grooves, hooks, wires or holes strong enough to support the piece when hung
- Any repairs to non-functional pieces must be invisible
Planning to present your work for sale:
- Work must present as a ceramic piece. Work can be accessorized or embellished with metal, glass, wood, ribbon etc. but it must present primarily as a ceramic item.
- Props can be used to demonstrate function i.e. flowers in a vase
- Pre-planning your table will help you prepare for the actual sale. Plan to bring business cards and bio to put out with your display along with risers, plate holders, boxes, and a background that will showcase your work. All tables will have a floor length black table cloths. Adding a suitable background to showcase your work is recommended.
- If this is your first sale, speak to the sales team and other tenured members to get some ideas on how to successfully plan for your first sale.
Happy potting!
